Looking forward: Deal - Canterbury in 40 mins!
Trains4deal praises the great service proposed for the timetable starting January 11 2015 during the day-time between Deal and Canterbury East, changing at Dover Priory.
An end-to-end journey time of 35 to 40 minutes with a comfortable time to change trains at Dover Priory station, even if you're shepherding children, luggage, buggies, etc - that's progress!

BUT - better evening connections needed!
Sadly it will not be quite so good in the evenings. Ian Killbery and Tom Rowland, representing Trains4deal, urged Southeastern to review its 2015 timetable to give better evening connections to facilitate DEal residents having a night out in Canterbury, our regional cultural, entertainment and shopping centre.
It is now easily ossible to take in all sorts of London shows and catch the last HS train back to Deal.
Sadly our service to Canterbury needs to catch up! For example, performances at the Marlowe Theatre tend to end just before 10pm, so the 2237 or 2340 train from Canterbury East gives enough time collect your coats and a gentle walk to the station - even an after-show drink with friends.
Unfortunately half-way through the nice journey home, there's a 35 minute wait for a connection on the cold, dark platforms of Dover Priory station.
We say this could be a popular journey and Southeastern should improve this connection up to the standard of the daytime service.
